The New World of PR

The new world of PR- If you’ve previously dismissed PR as advertising’s poor relation, or something to do to keep the MD happy once in a while by getting their photo in the press, it’s time to be reintroduced.

It’s always been more than this but now there seems to be a new dawn of understanding coming into play and brands are starting to see PR for what it really is – an incredibly powerful tool for managing the relationship you have with your customers.

As brands fight harder and harder for customer loyalty and customers become more and more demanding, it’s crucial that marketing teams are armed with the most powerful tools to fight for their customers’ love. This is the year for the new world of PR.

PR to many used to mean media relations but it’s now undeniably so much more. It’s come round full circle to actually mean what it stands for- Public Relations and it’s being embraced for this.

PR is two-way communications- PR used to be seen as one way traffic. Brands put their messages out to the consumer, after carefully structured communications being signed off across several internal departments, with the corporate line having been agreed company wide. It was a very controlled exercise. The customer was on the receiving end but was not necessarily expected to respond, rather simply soak up the information and love the brand all the more for it.

Now PR isn’t about one way traffic, nor is it so dependant on the media- it’s about good old fashioned communications called conversation.

Customers have become more sophisticated. They demand more. They know more. They use technology a lot more. The information available to them is vast. Their choices are immense. So where is the cut-through? It’s got to be in building strong, meaningful relationships to command brand loyalty and sort the wheat from the chaff.

A brand proactive in their conversations with customers is a brand in touch with its audience

Bradley Chapman

The Company:

“To create the world’s largest raw, open and honest network for entrepreneurs”

The Business & The Future

Million Impossible’s Business Networking website launched during November 2007 with a limited capital but with a big vision. Our vision is to create the World’s largest Honest and Raw Business Network for Entrepreneurs using a mixture of both online and offline products and services.

During 2008 we established the Million Impossible brand and positioned our business within the business networking community focusing on businesses overcoming adversity. The Million Impossible Network now has thousands of members from hundreds of different business and industry sectors with exponential planned growth for 2009.

Our online digital publication called Raw Entrepreneur Magazine launched during August 2008 and as of May 2009 has had 6 editions published featuring high profile entrepreneurs in each edition. Our first printed edition has been distributed in May 2009 and we are now in talks with a major UK publisher to promote the product to UK multiple and independent retailers. The magazine has been rebranded as Raw Business from edition 6 onwards.

The Mi road show commenced in October and November 2008 after we exhibited at The Business Show in Bolton and the Business Startups show in November courtesy of Rachel Elnaugh former owner of Red Letter Days. During 2009 we plan to attend a number of trade shows across the country to help promote and strengthen the brand. Our next show is Business Startups at London excel 28th-29th May.

Our Managing Directors personal blog called Bradley’s Blog, talks about Bradley’s personal Entrepreneurial journey in overcoming adversity which launched during March 2008 and has been viewed in many countries around the world. The blog content has been an inspiration for aspiring and budding Entrepreneurs as Bradley openly shares his thoughts and feelings as they happen.

Off the back of the success of Bradley’s Blog we have decided to launch Heidi’s Blog who has already captured the hearts and minds of female Entrepreneurs with her totally raw and heartfelt articles, which have been featured in Raw Entrepreneur Magazine.

2009 sees the launch of our much anticipated new project “Entrepreneur School” which will launch initially in Essex/ London and then roll out across the UK during 2009 and 2010. The primary aim of the school is to create a face to face networking event that combines businesses networking with practical Entrepreneur training. A school built by Entrepreneurs, for Entrepreneurs.

2009 is planned to be a very positive year for the Mi group as we continually look to develop the quality of our online and offline products increasing the user experience by creating strength in numbers amongst Entrepreneurs. Being an Entrepreneur can be a very lonely job. The emotional journey of an Entrepreneur combines the highest of highs with the lowest of lows but with Million Impossible, you realise that actually you are not alone and it need not be such a challenging journey.

Will you consider Donating to help me to help UK Entrepreneurs?

My Name is Bradley Chapman. I consider myself an passionate and driven Entrepreneur. If you have taken the time to read through my personal blog and either visited or perhaps joined my Entrepreneur Networking Website, then you will understand and perhaps feel and associate with my struggle to grow a business that helps increase the chances of success in UK business start ups as well as preserving the sometimes lifetime efforts of business owners and Entrepreneurs.

I have achieved what have to date with limited financial resources and some very kind friends and supporters and now require further assistance by way of donation to help me continue my journey. There are so many just causes that deserve donations and I am by no way as important the RSPCC, RNIB and Cancer Research to name but a very few, however, If businesses are to survive and prosper and have somewhere to turn in their darkest hour that is both open and honest, then i truly believe with your continued support, that we could achieve it.

Even a donation of one pound will help me to move my plans for Million Impossible and Entrepreneur School forward but if you would like to donate more then I can assure that it will go towards helping somebody to do something that they had not previously thought was possible.

I believe that I have the resolve to overcome my fears and face my adversity head on but i am also man enough to say at this juncture that I cannot do it alone.

Raw Entrepreneur Magazine Goes to Print!

Hi everybody

It has seemed like a lifetime to us moving from our previous digital Raw Magazine Editions into a fully printed glossy A4 printed version for edition 6.. Well myself and Scott are both pleased, humbled and honoured at the same time to deliver our best edition yet featuring an exclusive interview with the UK’s highest profile PR agent Mr Max Clifford!

Read Raw Mag 6 Here

I have worked with Scott for over 6 years and during that time our relationship has moved both forward and backwards at the same time. It takes a very long time to build a working relationship with a business partner and it takes and even longer time to be able to respect and understand each others strengths and weaknesses. If you can work together as a team and share a common vision or goal then of course anything might be possible. We have worked on our differences and we seem to be moving into a new respect zone.

We had some launch shots taken last week to celebrate the Raw Entrepreneur Magazine edition 6 in print and at first they started really seriously and before we knew it we started to feel almost as if we were famous for a minute!

This is the first image that we took and as you can see we looked like a pair of serious plonkers.

What a pair of plonkers!

What a pair of plonkers!

This is the second Image and as you can tell we have warmed up a little and starting to feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

feeling more comfotable with the camera

feeling more comfortable with the camera

This is about the sixth shot that we took and we are starting to get in the mood feeling like we might just make it as Entrepreneurs…

Oh yes now we are kicking back and playing for the camera

Oh yes now we are kicking back and playing for the camera

Oh yes lets get our teeth stuck into this whole photo shoot. feel it see it taste it!

OK then it think its time to really let rip… “Shall we pull our pants down together Scott” – “But Brad i am not wearing any”, “OK then Scott looks like it just me, but if i pull my pants down everyone will who i really am!” , Brad don’t worry this is Raw Entrepreneur Magazine – A magazine for Entrepreneurs who can be honest with who they really are”, “OK then Scott but our whole world will change if i do it…… Here go”.

Damm Damm i really did not want everyone to know who i really am!

The Power of Being a Positive Entrepreneur – by Bradley Chapman

April 1, 2009 2 comments

It really touches me and even on the darkest of days like today when our revenue is less than 50% of what we need to cover our costs and a day when I have delivered an amazing heartfelt and visionary speech to my team and yes i guess that it may have empowered the courageous among them.

It’s 4.45 and i am nearly passing out from exhaustion and lack of sleep through worry and not being able to do, create and deliver everything that Mi is demanding and needing right now..

I can sit back and eat my cottage pie with the comfort that I am not alone and that we all share the highs and lows of being in business… There are days that I love calling myself an Entrepreneur and days that i shake in fear for what i have had to do, some good and some bad.

I just spoke to a lady called Sue who is a life coach and she told me how she had come back from a near death experience.. Sue no speaks to Entrepreneurs and encourages them.

Its people like like this that puts us all to shame with our simple whims like “Where is everybody”

Team Million Impossible

“GET BUSY LIVING OR GET BUSY DYING” – Shawshank Redemption

Lots of Bradley

PS- I wish i could carry all of you but i cant. You all have wings. please join me and fly with me and together we will achieve something that no other network has been able to.

EYE OPENERS

Business SOS – This part of the web site is wide open for any of the areas listed and featured to be taken over by members of MI – do you have any ideas. This is a really good opportunity for Mi Members.

Angels Den – we are looking to pair with a VC company that will provide VC funding and advice for our members?

Business PR – we need a PR agency to take over and sponsor this area of the site and help our members with PR and Marketing?

Mi News – we need a professional press release business to sponsor and run this aspect of our site so that our members can issue free and paid for press releases. Our members need advice and guidance on writing, proof reading and promoting a press release – any ideas/ contacts?

This is just for starters. If you realise that we will have around 40,000 members by then end of Dec 2009, then think about this! Do any of you really want to waste negative energy on the things that you don’t have, instead use that energy positively and get the things you want? Ummm….. Thought provoking.

For all that are fighting to build the forum, I thank you and i will never forget – Thanks for being there

Entrepreneurs don't lose your heads under pressure

February 12, 2009 Leave a comment

I am sorry that my blog entries have not been as regular as normal. We have been going through some changes in the business, most of which is very positive but this has drained our time and our resources.

We have appointed a new creative agency to head up the design of Raw 6, which is our first printed edition. Everyone at Mi would like to extend our thanks to Clare Bradbury, Chris and the team at Passion Marketing for the amazing pitch and the time spent on their design concepts – Brilliant! Everyone at Team Mi HQ are looking forward to a dynamic and essential read for Raw Entrepreneur 6, which will be available in both printed and digital formats.

In every day business life and as most Entrepreneurs would agree, life can become very frenetic and at times you do need to step back and work out a precise planned strategy but of course at Mi most days our best laid plans turn into chaos!

We have installed a new CRM system “Fusemetrix” again with great thanks to Matthew Ballinger and his team at Web Office Systems. Matt we love the system and the support is first class and we cannot wait to promote your system to our members. It is cost effective and does everything that you need whether you are in a service, supply or stock holding sector.

We try to maintain a very humble approach to our Entrepreneur members as we too know only too well how hard it is in this difficult climate to build a business, let alone make a profit. Of course along the way most businesses will at some stage face adversity and as my post header suggests:-

“Entrepreneurs don’t loose your heads under pressure”

If you work alone, take time out to talk to other people and ask for their feedback. If you are member o Million Impossible’s network then go online and ask for help. If you have a team that cannot manager pressure then teach them to handle pressure. This may take some time, but persevere and you will have wins.

As Entrepreneurs we cannot shows flaws to our staff and they must see you as a person that can think outside the box, solve a problem or challenge and turn a negative into a positive. Teach your team to be solution thinkers. Instead of saying something cannot be done teach them to find a make to make it happen.

If any of you have seen the film K19 staring Harrison ford and Liam Nelson you will know what I mean. Take your people to the limits and when the time comes, you will know what they can and cannot do.

I am looking forward to Entrepreneur School and we have so many excited people that wish to get involved both Tutors and Pupils.. We will be holding a pre launch at a London venue in the next couple of weeks and I will keep you all informed as to our progress.

Well done to Heidi Weir for interviewing Max Clifford, who will be on the front cover of edition 6 of Raw Entrepreneur Magazine. We have uploaded Max’s Mi Tube video to our website so please take a look.

British Library Event- Business Nightmares and how to recover from them

I am honoured to announce that i have been invited to attend a business event as part of the main panel being held at the British Library on the 21st January 2009 by my dear friend Rachel Elnaugh.

The event is sponsored by HSBC.

Business in crisis event

Business in crisis event

The British Library is the national library of the UK and one of the world’s greatest libraries. Business users are a key target audience for the Library and it has a successful track record in supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs from initial concept through to successfully launching and developing a business. The newly upgraded Business & IP Centre, built with the help of LDA funding, provides free access to information, information experts, workshops and 1:1 advice sessions. More than 75,000 entrepreneurs and business people from a diverse range of background have used the Centre since it was officially opened in March 2006.

Alongside its research facilities, the Library holds many “role model” events, at which aspiring entrepreneurs are able to hear from, and quiz, successful entrepreneurs about the secrets of their success. In the past three years, the Library has welcomed many highly successful entrepreneurs such as Tim Waterstone, the late Dame Anita Roddick (who also hosted regular one-to-one workshops with budding entrepreneurs), Martha Lane Fox, Doug Richard, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and Lord Bilimoria to share their experiences with audiences of aspiring young entrepreneurs.

This evening panel debate and discussion is an opportunity to hear from a panel of leading entrepreneurs about how they survived their entrepreneurial rollercoaster ride and built business success on the back of the lessons learned. Guests will also have the chance to put their own questions to our panel about the experience gained from their business nightmares.
